Massey Venues

Massey Venues Team

Frances Healy

Position: Commercial Services Manager
Location: Palmerston North

Frances Healy has a background in numbers and banking. She came to Wharerata over 19 years ago when she picked up some after-hours work to earn a bit of extra money. Frances never left and eventually worked her way up the hospitality ladder. Her background and experience with managing events at Wharerata and Sport & Rugby Institute is phenomenal. Frances can move with ease from a premium wedding event, to looking after the Australian Hockey Team. With all the high-quality food and beverage she sees each day, nothing beats a good burger in her books.

Cory Anderson

Position: Commercial Services Manager

Cory Anderson has worked in hospitality for most of his working life. He worked the café, bar, and restaurant scene before progressing into events management. He brings a wealth of experience to Massey Venues in Wellington having worked on major events like the Melbourne Cup, the Australian Grand Prix and the Avalon Air show all across NZ, Australia, and the UK. Cory has trained as a pilot which gives you an idea of his ability to balance attention to detail and getting the job done. In his downtime, he is partial to craft beer in particular Hazy IPAs.

Denise Scott

Position: Head Chef
Location: Wellington
Head Chef Denise Scott is a qualified chef with 40+ years’ experience. She has lived and worked in Australia where she loved working in amongst the super cool Aussie Characters, some of them famous. Denise joined us following a stint with a high-end catering company in Wellington and has been integral to the new modern food vibe we have in Tussock Café. Denise is constantly on the lookout for exciting new food trends, but at home she simply prefers to relax with a block of Cadburys chocolate albeit washed down with a very good glass of Chardonnay.

Ray Parimathawut

Position: Head Chef
Location: Palmerston North

Chef Tharakorn Parimathawut (Ray) is a qualified chef with 15+ years’ experience.  Ray trained in Switzerland where he went on to work in luxury hotels.  His claim to fame is cooking for the Queen of Thailand in Bangkok.  He eventually settled here in New Zealand where he has extended his skills and knowledge even further working with boutique fast-food and providing first class catering in private schools.  Ray is well travelled, but still loves the food he grew up with.

Benjamin Arregui

Position: Food & Beverage Manager
Location: Wellington
Benjamin Arregui has 20 years’ experience working out the front in the hospitality industry. Ben came to Massey Venues from Wellingtons awesome Nikau Café, but he also has experience working in hotels and luxury lodges globally. Ben is qualified in Hotel Management and Business Administration, and he loves being out front managing our team and business. He landed in New Zealand after hitchhiking around the globe for 10 years, the best way to see the world and meet people. Ben most favourite thing to eat is Argentinian BBQ (he is from Argentina) but happy to wash it down with good New Zealand red wine.

Glenn London

Position: Food & Beverage Manager
Location: Palmerston North
Glenn London brings a wealth of experience to Massey Venues with a strong background in commercial business and event management. He worked for top NZ retail brands before going on to manage his own signature events company for six years in Wellington. Glenn cut his teeth in the hospitality industry many years ago at Wharerata Functions Centre and has fond memories of hosting weddings and special occasion events in our stunning heritage buildings. We feel very fortunate that he has returned with his knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm. Glenn loves cheese, and more cheese with a glass of Sauvignon.

Testimonials

The room facilities were well-equipped

“In February, we hosted a weeklong workshop at the Massey Albany campus. Our workshop had both online and in-person presentations, as well as breakout workgroups. The room facilities were well-equipped with the technology needed for the presentations; and the space was more than sufficient for the participants to comfortably work in their breakout rooms. The on-site staff were extremely responsive to needs and were a joy to work with during the workshop. In leading up to the course, they were reliable communicators in helping us plan out the week. We definitely hope to be able to run future events here, as the service and venue were terrific. Many thanks to Andrea and her team!”

“We hired the Massey AT2 theatre for a pole competition and are so glad we did. Andrea and her team were really helpful with providing all the information required and ensuring we had what we need for the day to run smoothly. The venue itself had all we needed in terms of audience seating, backstage options and a foyer for guests to hang out prior to doors opening. We look forward to using the space again in future”
